A Salvadoran Journey: One Boy’s Dream Playing Alongside Messi

If you’re a fan of football, you’ve probably heard the tale that’s shared wherever there’s a soccer match. It’s the story of Levi Sandoval, a passionate supporter who captivates all who cross his path in the small town of Santo Tomás in El Salvador.

Levi was born with Russell Silver Syndrome, a condition that affects his growth and life expectancy was initially limited to six months by doctors.
Despite being underweight and short due to his syndrome, Levi’s mother, Dulce María Sandoval, described him as a fighter. Although growth hormone treatments have not been successful, they have not deterred Levi’s spirit.
When Levi discovered that his idol, Leo Messi, would be playing for Inter Miami in El Salvador against the national team, he was filled with excitement and anticipation.
His admiration for the Argentine star began during a game when he realized that despite their physical differences, they both shared the language of determination and resilience.
After hearing that Messi had also experienced childhood challenges similar to his own, Levi’s admiration for the soccer legend grew even stronger.

Levi’s mother proudly shared about her son serving the Lord as a Bible school teacher, with plans to start high school this year with an English diploma. The Sandoval family eagerly sought out a way to make Levi’s dream a reality, thanking God for the opportunity. “My son always wanted to meet Messi during his Barcelona days, and I promised him we would make it happen one day,” Dulce María explained. Levi’s dream was simple yet profound: to meet Messi, take photos, and get his autograph on a shirt. Finally, his dream was on the brink of becoming a reality.

From the streets of El Salvador to meeting Messi: Levi’s dream comes true. Levi Sandoval will soon be able to say that dreams do come true, no matter how big they may seem.
